I Am Why workshop series: Black voices and culture

During the Juneteenth weekend we welcomed our partners from I Am Why to Wichita to co-facilitate a workshop series for a cohort of young women and gender expansive young adults.  This year’s workshops focused on celebrating Black voices and culture. A handful of young women from our community spent 3 days participating in our workshop, discussing the future of Black communities, Black voices, and Black beauty. Along with rich discussion and deep reflection, participants were invited to create self portraits featuring their own powerful “I Am Why” statements to proclaim their personal values and motivations.
