The first quarter of 2026 has been a great start, from academic success to new learning experiences and college visits, our students continue to grow and lead.
Building Sisterhood & Community

Our Sisterhood group kicked off the year with a fun and engaging outing to a Wichita State Shockers women's basketball game.

In February, we partnered with the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center (WASAC) to facilitate an important conversation on healthy relationships. This session empowered students with knowledge and awareness of safe relationships.
Leadership & College Exposure at K-State

In March, our students traveled to Kansas State University to participate in the Black Student Union Leadership Conference. Students had the opportunity to:
Tour the campus
Engage with student leaders
Explore potential career paths
Experience college life firsthand
This trip inspired many to begin envisioning their futures beyond high school.
Real Conversations, Real Choices

Through a partnership with the Wichita Metro Crime Commission, students visited the Topeka Correctional Facility as part of the Make Good Choices initiative. This powerful experience emphasized the importance of decision-making, accountability, and making positive life choices.
Spring Break College Tour Experience

During Spring Break, we collaborated with Root the Power to take 40 students on a college tour to Dallas, Texas to tour the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas at Arlington.
Students explored campus life, learned about academic programs, and envisioned their future pathways. The trip also included a visit to AT&T Stadium, giving students a behind-the-scenes look.
We are incredibly proud of the growth and success our students have shown this semester so far, with some even achieving the honor roll for the first quarter! As we move forward into the rest of the year, we remain committed to creating opportunities for our youth!
